Counselling is a talking therapy in which you are provided with a safe and supportive environment to explore and express your thoughts and feelings, in particular those that are preventing you from living a happy and fulfilling life. Talking to a professional can help you look at problems from a different perspective and equip you with the tools to work through them.
The first session is 1 hour long and the following sessions are 50 minutes. At this initial session we’ll have an opportunity to get a sense of each other. I will describe how I work and we will look at your goals and expectations from therapy.
The length of time counselling takes varies from person to person. It is recommended that clients commit to a minimum of 6 sessions in order to feel some benefit. Sessions are usually weekly to allow clients time between sessions to process and integrate what is uncovered.
